adidas Originals has named Willy Chavarria creative advisor of a new line, adiSignature, and the first collection launches Friday, October 23 on adidas.com, in adidas retail stores and with select retail partners, priced from 45 to 100 euro. The debut reworks the brand's sweats in heavyweight 420g brushed back fleece, taking in hoodies, sweatpants, mock-neck quarter-zips, crews, tees and tanks plus rebuilt Firebird and SST tracksuits. The release lists dropped shoulders, one-piece hood constructions, roomier sweatpant fits and reworked ribbing where the old patterns used to sit.
The structure is the news. Chavarria's previous adidas work ran under his own name, co-branded pairs like the Mega and Superstar. adiSignature keeps his name off the product and hands him the codes instead: 1980s-inspired blocking with Trefoil and Three Stripes treatments, and an NY block pack that reworks an archival jogging suit from the 1980s. "adiSignature is a framework that adidas and I developed together that will evolve over years," he says in the announcement. He told WWD the collection started as a small capsule pitch he presented in Germany, after time spent at the brand's Los Angeles office.
Scarcity drives every adidas collab. Chavarria says this line is built without it. "The collabs are built with scarcity intentionally," he told WWD. "AdiSignature is not filled with scarcity. This is for longevity. We will replenish when it sells out." Brianna Capozzi shot and directed the launch campaign, with styling by Georgia Pendlebury.
The lane already trades deep on the index: Willy Chavarria on Elusive returns 143 hits including 51 Firebird pieces. If replenished stock takes heat off secondary prices on his earlier co-branded pairs, those listings reprice first.
