Coperni ceases operations after eight years

Founders Arnaud Vaillant and Sebastien Meyer shut down Coperni SAS after an unresolved dispute with majority shareholder Tomorrow over unpaid sums.

Coperni SAS has ceased operations. Founders and creative directors Arnaud Vaillant and Sebastien Meyer announced the shutdown in a memo on Wednesday, November 4, shared with Vogue Business. "These eight years have been extraordinary," they wrote. "Coperni has always been a collective adventure, and we are immensely proud of what we have created." They added: "We look ahead with optimism and plenty of ideas, and cannot wait to share them with you."

The end follows a year of dispute with Tomorrow, the label's exclusive distributor and majority shareholder since 2019. The founders said the group stopped payments owed to Coperni. In March, Tomorrow was sold to Progetto 11, the holding company behind Italian e-commerce platform The Level Group, and the licensing agreement in place was terminated. In June, a Paris court granted the brand receivership protection, and Vaillant confirmed the decision while saying the group had stopped payments owed, per Business of Fashion. The founders spent the year trying to buy the brand back, and the Fall/Winter 2026 show was cancelled along the way.

The label reached its widest audience through the spray-on dress, the Air bag and the swipe glass phone case. With operations ceased, the secondary market is the only channel those pieces have left. On the index, Coperni returns no listings.
