The British Fashion Council will present Yohji Yamamoto with the Outstanding Achievement Award at The Fashion Awards 2026. The BFC announced the honor from London on October 28, and the ceremony runs Monday, November 30 at the Royal Albert Hall, with general admission tickets from 30 GBP already on sale. The award goes to a designer whose career reshaped the industry. Previous recipients, per the BFC, include Tom Ford, Valentino, Yvon Chouinard, Giorgio Armani, Miuccia Prada, Ralph Lauren and Karl Lagerfeld.
BFC chief executive Laura Weir put it plainly: "Few designers have changed the way we think about clothes as profoundly as Mr. Yamamoto." The citation points to masterful tailoring and a radical reimagining of womenswear. WWD traces the label back to Tokyo in 1972, then across Y-3, the Adidas line started in 2003, and costume design for film and opera.
The archive is here now. Yohji Yamamoto returns 136 listings on Elusive, led by a layered collar long coat at 4,955 EUR, and the Supreme x Y's zip hoodies on the same lane list from 150 to 876 EUR. The award is a month out; the coats do not need to wait for it.
